The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada

The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada is the country’s leading charity dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and families involved with the child welfare system.

International Women’s Day is a global moment to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and girls and to reflect on the continued work required to advance gender equality.
It is also an opportunity to shine a light on the many ways women contribute to stronger communities.
At Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, we see how leadership shapes that progress. It shows up in the many ways women give of their time, their expertise, their perspective, and their generosity to strengthen decisions and expand our impact. It shows up in thoughtful governance, in steady day-to-day commitment, and in the willingness to share insight that helps move our work forward.
This month, we will highlight three women in our community who each give something essential. Because when leadership is shared, everyone benefits, especially young people in and from care.

Pink Shirt Day was on February 25!
It’s a day to stand against bullying — and to stand up for children and youth who deserve to feel safe, respected, and included in every space they enter.
For youth in and from care, bullying and social exclusion can be part of a much larger story. Feeling “different,” misunderstood, or unsupported can shape how young people see themselves and their place in the world. Without strong relationships and consistent care, those experiences can follow them far beyond childhood.
At Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, we believe safety goes beyond physical protection — it includes emotional well-being, belonging, and the confidence to be yourself without fear. That’s why we invest in programs that build connection, resilience, and opportunity, helping young people grow into their full potential. Safety and belonging isn’t an exception — it’s the standard.

Children in foster care need help thriving in and transitioning out of the system. Without parental guidance, they are always at a disadvantage. Your donation will help these children get a better start in life – every penny makes a difference! Click on the logo below to contribute.

Hello, Mary Lou: Prom Night II

From an article on CBR.com:
Outside of directing his own movies like Inglourious Basterds, and Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino has a deep-seeded love for the art of cinema. Throughout his time in the spotlight, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has turned audiences on to classics of the medium, providing his personal recommendations while also hosting various screening events based around these cinephilic tastes. One of these movie that Tarantino has made an effort of championing is the oft-forgotten Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, which he has described as one of his all-time favorite horror movies ever.

See screen caps of the movie here!

A very young Louis Ferreira starred as Craig Nordham, the son of the original Mary Lou’s evil boyfriend, whose girlfriend Vicki becomes possessed by Mary Lou’s vengeful spirit.

FRIENDS NEWS

Aryn shares frequent tips and tricks on how to cope with stressful situations, both on set and in daily life or while travelling – they work for everyone!

One of the smallest things that can make a 12 hour day on set (or on the job) feel better?
Changing your socks halfway through.
It sounds almost ridiculous… but dry socks make a real difference.
Less friction.
Less fatigue.
Your feet cool down.
Your brain gets a tiny reset.
Sometimes “wellness on set” isn’t a big program.
Sometimes it’s just remembering to take care of your body in small ways so you can make it through the day.
Fresh socks is one of those things.
Crew knows.
