  • Tristan Bushman https://www.tristanbushman.com

Haven Toronto

At the Toronto Homeless Memorial, we remember & mourn those who have died while homeless in our city.
There are thousands of men over the age 50 in shelters in Toronto annually.
Hundreds more sleep outdoors and in precarious accommodations.
The number of seniors who are homeless has doubled in four years.
Haven Toronto is their sanctuary, a place where they can feel at home, where they are always welcome and treated with dignity and respect.

Open 8am to 5pm, 365 days a year, Haven Toronto provides the essential services they need for their day-to-day lives. Haven Toronto provides onsite access to crisis and housing counsellors, on-site nurses, dental hygienists and barbers. Haven Toronto also provides healthy meals 3 times daily at 8am, noon and 3pm, clothing, showers, laundry, recreational amenities and more.

Haven Toronto invites you to Walktober, a virtual walk in support of elder homeless men.
During the month of October, walk, hike, run or bike, any day, any distance. Set a goal and challenge yourself. Invite family and friends to join your team or support you with a donation toward your goal.

Proceeds help reduce barriers – and steps – to accessing programs and supports vital to the health and wellbeing of elder homeless men, including health care, housing and food security.

Want to make an immediate impact on a homeless person’s life? Make a purchase at the Shop & Share store at Haven Toronto! Anything you buy there goes directly to an elder homeless man in need, and there’s something for every budget, from healthy meals to entire Care Kits and full sets of clothing. Click on the image of the raincoat to get started!

Of course you can also give to the general operating fund of the organization by clicking on the logo below. Please note that you will be linked to our very own donations page which still bears the former name of the shelter – The Good Neighbours Club. Your donation will still arrive at Haven Toronto.

SCREEN CAPS

This month we have 481 screen caps of the Motive Season 2 episode Bad Blonde (episode 6).

The Killer: Heather Williamson and Gordon White, the founders of an up and coming web communications company. Gordon dotes on Heather, which does not sit well with his wife, Kim White.
The Victim: Jake Daly, Heather’s nightclub bartender boyfriend. At the beginning of the investigation, Angie, Oscar and Brian have no body, but a lot of blood spattered in a public place, the spatter marks consistent with a vicious stabbing. The eventual discovery of a MedicAlert bracelet points them to Jake as the probable victim.

THE 4th READING SERIES: MR. MUGS – ROCKETS AWAY!

The fourth monthly reading series continues in Mr. Mugs – Rockets Away!  by Martha Kambeitz and Denise Burns.
Unlike previous readers, this volume was published as a hardcover book within the Level 3 series of the Mr. Mugs readers. It was originally released in 1968. The Mr. Mugs books have been out of print for many years but occasionally you can find them on eBayAmazon Marketplace or various other antique book dealers.

Louis credits the Mr. Mugs books series with helping him to learn English at a very young age.

You can listen to all the previous book readings under the Reading Series Tab.

Here is this month’s chapter.

Listen to the sound clip here:

Chapter 13: A Pink Popcorn Party (continued)

Pat looked around in the rocket.
He saw something.

“I have it!” he said. This will work!
This space gun will blast the pink things
off the planet!
Here we go! BLAST OFF!”

W-H-O-O-O-S-H!

It blasted the pink things away out
into space.
Pat laughed and laughed.
It looked like someone was popping corn
on the pink planet!
It looked like a pink popcorn party!

Pat and Mr. Mugs got into
the pink rocket.
It blasted off to Earth.

Rob Munic

Rob writes:
When our hearts collided 19 years ago, Ingrid Rogers and I said we would do everything together… and we have. Every day in this journey with her has been a gift. I’ve never loved deeper or laughed harder. She is my absolute light. Never fades. On this, our 16th wedding and 19th year anniversary, I look back at all the choices we made, all the goals and dreams we’ve achieved and yet, I can’t help but think that after all this time together, her mustache game actually brought out her cheekbones and beautiful lips better than mine. How is this possible?!

The mustache manual I have from 1974 clearly states “the man suave enough to grow a groovy ‘stache will surely enhance his macho face. And attract all the foxes.” So much for vintage literature. Lies! Now I resent her. Talk about a full circle moment. Happy Anniversary Babe. Congrats on your big new endorsement deal with Gillette . (Whatever)

Peter Kelamis

Here’s a feature about Adam Brody!

Peter played the role of the engineer in Stargate Universe, co-starring with Louis and our friends Patrick Gilmore, Jen Spence and Alaina Huffman.

Bradley Stryker

The always busy Bradley is working on a new project, a movie called “Who is Christmas Eve?” in New York City.

He writes:

“Making movies just doesn’t disappoint!”
